Tpicture1here is no age limit to love of new jammies on Christmas Eve.

My daughter Jamie, will be 37 in May. This is her one month ago, Dec. 2010 in her Christmas p.j.’s from her fiancé. She looks like a little girl, thrilled and ready for whatever Santa brings.

I can feel her tingle of excitement and happiness, which is why I love this picture she emailed to me from Texas to Ohio. Of course, I am sure having her feet encased in her snow character pajamas was the main source of her anticipation…..and of course, the hood! Jody

Hey there Suzanne,

We (my younger brother and sister and I) received new pj’s for Christmas every year for as long as I can remember. We always opened them up on Christmas Eve so we could have on our new jammies for pictures on Christmas morning. My favorite jammies were long flannel night gowns. We grew up in northern Ohio and the winters we pretty chilly. What wonderful memories! Thanks for the contest. Loved the picture of you in your jammies. Kristal

Hi Suzanne,

My daughter is almost 30 now and when she was a baby she had the original Pope John Paul PJ's. Baby clothes were not so gender specific in the early eighties. My daughter's romper clothes were yellow and green mixed with blues and turquoise except one all white (down to her toes) gown. It was cotton and buttoned down the front.

One day as I was feeding her, the TV started showing Pope John Paul visiting Ireland. He was clad in an all white (down to his toes) gown, too. My daughter didn't have much hair and she had a chubby tummy and looking back to her and then at the TV , suddenly she seemed like a miniature pope in her outfit. Every time I put that gown on her I called her Pope John. Fortunately, she outgrew the gown in a few weeks, however, years later when I bought white cotton PJ's they got christened Pope John PJ's. They were the softest and most comfortable PJ's I ever owned. Hmmm, maybe they are still in the back of the drawer. Regards, Anne

picture22007...Cousins Jane and Cindy visiting for the first time in years, settle into their jammies for a dueling laptop session. Too cute to not photograph. Unfortunately the tripod was a pile of potholders and not so straight. Where's the wine? Jane (TX) and Cindy (CA)

Your post brought back an unexpected memory: my favorite nightgown when I was a little girl. It was pink with lace trim and said 'it's raining' in French & English with a pattern of little umbrellas. Hmmm, maybe that's how I ended up a French major... Thanks! Erin

I remember fondly every Christmas Eve, we would go to our grandparents for dinner and gifts....we always knew what we were getting in our packages, but the anticipation of them was great. We would wait patiently through dinner and then when Gram went to the tree, anxiously listen for our name to be called, tear the package open in seconds....and we were never disappointed. Pajamas we would happily explain to our Mom and she was as happy as we were with our "treasure". Upon arrival home, we got to wear our new pajamas to bed and dream about Christmas Morning to come.

I live in the frozen North (Winnipeg, Canada) so in the winter, flannel jammies are a necessity. My favourite pair are pink with cats because I love cats and I was owned by two pampered Persians before they went to the great litter box in the sky. My pj's are really the Cat's Pyjamas because that is what is written all over them. Don't have a picture of me in my snazzy pj's but will try to get someone to take one of me wearing them.

Anyway, I am a great fan of your column and always look forward to your Dear Reader column and have borrowed from my library many of the books you feature each week. I have just finished Dining with Joy and found it delightful. Heather
