I am one of your older fans and have a different story to tell about pajamas.

It was March and an old boy friend (classmate) had written that he was going to be in TX and wanted to come by and see me...hadn't seen each other in 60 yrs. I told him it would be fine but to call before he came.

It rarely snows in NE Texas. This Sunday, it was snowing and I just knew we wouldn't be having anyone drop by, so got into my flannel p.j.s for the afternoon. Low and behold, the door bell rings. I thought "only kids playing" and didn't go to the door. Next, I hear banging on the door, but I still didn't go to the door. After a min. or two, the phone rings, I answer and it is the old friend calling. I say "where are you?" He says in front of your house!

I then have to go to the door and let him in. Since he caught me, I just stayed as I was dressed in p.j.'s! Who wants to be caught that way when you haven't seen someone in 60 years. You sure know how to create mail...thanks for some memories you stir up. Billie

Hi,

My favorite memory is when I bought a short nightgown from Walmart with small purple violets on it. I wore that nightgown for about 10 years. The older it got, the softer it got. It was SO comfortable. By the time I threw it out it was threadbare! Nancy

Suzanne, Enjoyed reading everyones pj stories. I am mostly a long gown person, but my favorite pjs were a pair of pink frilly baby-doll pjs. My cousin came to visit and she also had a pair of baby-dolls. We thought we were right in style! Elizabeth

It was great to read all the pj stories. I didn’t realize how many people loved pajamas. I have always loved pajamas! However I don’t remember getting them as Christmas presents as a child and I can’t even remember any when I was growing up. Surely I slept in something! Anyway as an adult I love them. One year my husband bought me a pair and then he bought another pair for me because he forgot that he had bought the first pair. And then my girlfriend sent me a darling pink pair from California from Susan Branch. So I got 3 pairs for Christmas. I loved it. One year my California girlfriend and me got Lang nightgowns from our husbands – which we wanted and just loved. Thanks for the pj party. It’s been lovely. Alice

Hi Suzanne,

I have attached 2 photos. I come from a family of 6 kids. The first photo was the first 4, all in matching pj's. In the second photo, the oldest 2 kids must have been on strike, or too cool to join in, so it is the 4 younger children with the matching pj's. These pictures were approximately 48 and 46 years ago!

They are a little bit 'scratchy' because they were originally slides. In order of age - Frank, Bernadette, Terry, Michael, Kim and Mark. Thank you for reading with us, Terry.

While I don't remember going to any memorable pajama parties, every evening is a pajama party!

I do my workout before coming home, and head straight to the bedroom where my PJ's are waiting for me, following in the tradition my Mom set. She taught sewing to adults at the local tech college, several evenings week, while I was in high school. She would start the meal while I was at school, and I would complete it & put it on the table. About the time dishes were done, Mom would come home. If we approached her about anything, she insisted we wait until she changed into her pajamas.
My sister & I are continuing the tradition of changing into our PJ's ASAP! Mary

Do I like pajamas? Definitely, yes! It's really the new ones I have trouble with. For example, last spring I was browsing the mall and came upon the sale in the sleepwear department So many sets, separates.
picture10Thinking of my OLD t-shirts and ragged shorts or pants in my drawer, I decided it was time for a change and I browsed for a while and finally took some to try on. In the dressing room I chose the best fitting and softest and bought them. Actually, I bought two sets. I thought I would be somewhat more fashionable, definitely less ragged and I would have something more presentable to wear when we go out of town.

Well, I guess the better question is - do I like NEW pj's?. Those two pair are in my drawer, practically unworn. (see photo) I have tried them on and put them back several times. They are still cute and fashionable. But they are just not familiar. They are different. I guess comfort and familiarity have won over cute and new! Besides, what's important in sleeping? - sleep! And I have my eyes closed. Maybe I'll try again tomorrow! Janet
