THUMB PRINT COOKIES

2/3 cup sugar
1 cup butter
1/2 tsp. almond extract
2 cups flour

Cream together the sugar, butter and almond extract. Add flour. Chill dough for 1 hour.

Roll into 1 inch balls and place on cookie sheet (I lined my cookie sheet with parchment paper)

Press thumb in the middle of each ball. Add 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon jam or preserve of your choice.

(Don't fill it completely or it will run onto the pan.)

Bake in preheated oven 350 degrees 14 - 18 minutes. Cool and drizzle with glaze.

GLAZE Recipe

1 cup powdered sugar
1/2 teaspoon almond extract
2 -4 teaspoons water (until right consistency to drizzle on the top of the cookies)

These are DELICIOUS!
