Hi Suzanne,
I'm writing to thank you for picking me and my family as winners in your last Chocolate Chip Cookie Contest. In July I wrote to tell you I had received the cookies and froze them pending the arrival of our son and his family from California and we were going to have other family members here at that time, too. Kind of like a small family reunion, and I would bring out "Suzanne's famous cookies" for the occasion!
Well, my son and his family arrived, so great to see them, but they were here only four days (they were planning to say for three weeks) when we got the dreaded call from California that my daughter-in-law’s mother had died in California . Totally unexpected. So very sad! And the whole family had to hop back on the airplane to California.
Needless to say, they won't be able to come back this year. Well, last week our daughter Christine, from New York, came up for a short visit with our granddaughter Lindsay, who will be a senior at University of Chicago this September. So I said, "It's chocolate chip cookie time, pour the milk and get out the camera!" And we did!
This is a photo that my husband took of me (Jeanne), Christine and Lindsay, 3 generations, all chocolate chip cookie lovers.
I still have some cookies frozen in the freezer for Jeanne, our daughter from New Hampshire, who’s coming next week, and our California son George, who will pop back here alone in a few weeks to pack up all the belongings they left, when they departed so quickly in July. And who knows, maybe son John, and family, from Kansas City will surprise us with a visit! I've "talked-up" your cookies to them all!
Quite a story...but I know you love stories! Thank you again , Suzanne, for everything!
