A baby Monarch caterpillar can eat an entire milkweed plant in two or three days. Once all the leaves are gone, I cut the plant back and It will regrow, but it takes a few months. While I was searching for new milkweed plants for the 33 caterpillars, I counted 20 more caterpillars. They are everywhere and I’m thrilled. Soon my yard will be blessed with beautiful Monarchs darting back and forth in my gardens. (The last photo--below—my husband created as a tribute to my Monarch Caterpillar ER.)
Yesterday afternoon, when I came in the house, after checking on the caterpillars, and putting six new milkweed plants in the ground, I looked down and there was a “hitchhiker”.
